The Central / Southern Illinois Synod (CSIS) is one of 65 synods of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America . The CSIS consists of about 150 congregations in central and southern Illinois - more or less all of Illinois below I-80.

Our Bishop, the Rev. Warren Freiheit, guides the ministries of the synod, serves as pastor to congregational pastors and those who are in specialized ministry, and enables congregations for greater ministry. He is assisted by the Rev. Jackie Linden-Schade and the Rev. Joseph Bleakley.  

Most of the congregations of the CSIS are rural, but the synod includes the cities of Bloomington/Normal, Champaign/Urbana, Decatur , Peoria , and Springfield , as well as the suburban area of Saint Louis that is in Illinois .
