For Lutherans, worship matters. While some of the approaches to worship may differ from one congregation to another, there is a basic pattern for worship among Lutherans:
- We gather,
- Encounter God’s Word,
- Share a meal at the Lord’s table,
- And are sent into the world
St. John’s Hartsburg follows the same structure. Our services are relatively relaxed and include a combination of scripture readings, music and Holy Communion. But as Lutherans, we do not think about worship so much in terms of what we do. Worship is an encounter with God, who saves us through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
We use two resources to guide our services: the Lutheran Book of Worship, which was published in 1978 by several Lutheran bodies and With One Voice, published more recently by the publishing house of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
We invite you to join us Sundays at 9:00am to experience a worship service for yourself.
